Hello all, I’m Dustin “DK” and I’m Membership Director at CAD ever since.
We are motivated to recruit more members to join. I noticed that the number of members are growing, which is great! Yes, we still need more people to join us, especially the youth group, senior citizens group, and all ages to join too.
With this vision for the new officers, we really want to have a VP connection set up for this and within CAD. The reason for this is because of language deprivation which may prevent them from contacting us through email. VP is the best. Why? It allows direct communication between us in ASL easily, that’s what I meant. I can envision the expansion of this VP in this business within CAD.
Thank you!

Hello, I’m DE aka Dave Eberwein, CAD President from 2023 to 2025 for two years. What are the President’s duties? Pretty much the same. Run the meetings, internally and externally statewide. But it’s not the only thing that a President does. Much more such as leadership. For example, I really enjoyed leading CAD Board and Trustees through CAD’s the most richest in the history ever! It was the biggest impact ever with the least labor involvement by working quickly and working smart. This is what I’m most proud of this team from 2023 to 2025.
We have reached this point where we’re excited to present this successful formula to the next President. We are giving this gift all wrapped up with a bow and set up for you the new board to take over. We are here to support you!

Diedre: DK, it’s up to you to stay or leave the Zoom.
DK: Let me know ahead of time when the next meeting is. I’m already thinking about new ideas because you mentioned only 7 people signed up for Nexus. So, that’s a nope. I need to figure out how to convince more people to join and register. I forgot that Hugh is off duty and not returning to work until September. I need your quick opinion if I can use VP number during working business hours? Like 1159 so people can call and ask questions about membership renewals and so on? Can we do that?
DE: Are you asking Hugh? Or us? Who are you asking?
DK: Hugh. I’m asking Hugh. What do you think?
Hugh: To call me?
DK: No, for me so people can call me and ask questions and how to give them an opportunity to from now and to Nexus conference.
Hugh: Yes, that should be fine.
DK: I can make a vlog about this and send it to Amy with a VP number to encourage members to contact me. Thank you, Hugh. Ok, see you all soon.
DE: I appreciate you for hearing and advocacy on behalf of the members. I still need you in two weeks from now.
DK: For September 21?
DE: Yes, I need someone who’s experienced with elections in case staff doesn’t come and vote for four board members. I will need you. Thank you! It will be final during this time.
DK: Good nite everyone
Diedre: Stay healthy and well
Hugh: Bye
DK: Thanks!
DE: You look much better now than before.
DK: It’s getting better but the pain’s still there. I need to slow down. I’m still walking with a cane. Thanks and bye

Hi all! My name is Hugh Lafler and I’m the Treasurer for CAD 2023 to 2025.
What are the duties of a Treasurer?
Update QuickBooks, pay people, donations, sponsorships, assist everyone, have access to money, approvals by board, a vision for the next board is to continue making investments in the deaf community all over California and keep it growing. It’s really important that everyone know that we are here for them and help them to become successful.

Hi all, I’m Diedre Tanenberg, your CAD Secretary for 2023-2025. The secretary deals with a lot of administrative tasks, can be very detail oriented sometimes, being organized, but that’s the kind of person I am. One of the biggest challenges I have is that I wish I had the skills where I’m able to triage the emails coming in. I do have a list of emails through info@cad1906.org and am not sure where they should go. Even after sending them, I hope it’s the right place to go. It would be nice to have an automatic email system where people can see a list of topics and then select a topic, especially a lot of questions coming in that are related to our priorities. It’d be nice to have a space on the website or email automated system that really helps people in real time rather than me trying to figure out who is the right person to contact. It’d be amazing if this process becomes seamless. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned since two years is that I’ve gone to different places, different communities, seeing where CAD have sponsored by going and seeing how the fund is being used to support their community, their events, and diverse needs. I’m pleased to be honored as your secretary, seeing the website with forms and excited about people joining, people who applied for the youth award and the submissions for the art contest, or receiving sponsorship requests for different things like where we can collaborate on what we have with a bigger tool available for us. Another part of the Secretary’s role is to make sure to coordinate the statewide meetings. We had a big challenge and exciting approach to make sure our hybrid meetings are accessible and inclusive of our audience’s needs. Real time CART, deaf interpreters, and people to watch and hear everything on what’s happening during our statewide meetings. One of the biggest challenges are my skills and abilities that reflect the public and dealing with the backend. It’d be great to have a team like another staff person to work with to make sure it’s accessible and inclusive for all. Thank you!

DE: I don’t want to keep you both here. Hugh, I plan to talk with Josh and you at the same time, depending on the details. I’m talking about Josh about legal stuff too.
Diedre, do we have a meeting tomorrow night with PS and Lori?
Diedre: No confirmation yet but yet but we have a meeting with them tomorrow.
DE: Do I leave you alone or do you want me to join you?
Diedre: Yes, please join us and make sure it’s all authorized with their purchases.
DE: Ok, food purchase. We must be there.
Hugh: I’d like to join as well.
DE: Ok then it’s a committee meeting. Let’s do it this week with the three of us with DCR. There’s one more thing I need to talk with Josh about. I plan to talk with David Smario about joining as a Trustee.
Hugh: Let’s vote on this.
DE: I’m looking for a president too. I have two people in mind. Will see how it goes. Thank you both for your presence so I can keep moving forward. Just three weeks left.
Diedre: I hope money is great. I’m waiting to hear back from Route 66 on purchasing the stickers and magnets. They look good. I think we’re ready for the order.
DE: I need to push people to register. My friend was on the phone scrolling through and reminded my friend to register.
Diedre: Our flyer on the website has QR code and take a picture of the code and you can open it.
DE: I will take this and send it to everyone.
Diedre: Another thing I just finished doing a vlog with an explanation how to register for the Nexus and visit website to see the information where I explained about providing food, free event, and so on.
DE: Will it be on social media?
Diedre: Yes, it will be and it needs to be edited to be posted to SM. I just did a screenshot of the map of CODIE to DCR, Hyatt and so on.
DE: Amy, do it the first thing to post since more people are asking for details. It’s first priority to get it out. Please do it asap. And put it on the website. We need to push for registrations.
Diedre: I think people will show up today.
DE: I know but I want at least 30 people to show up.
Hugh: People know that they have to register but I’m wondering if they don’t realize that they have to register now.
Diedre: Thank you! I need to close this Zoom meeting and send this to Amy to watch the last 30 minutes of our meeting where our vlogs are.
DE: Yes, do the vlog the first thing, Amy
Diedre: I don’t see your vlog with DCR, it seems not ready?
DE: Yes, I’m in there. You should see my explanation but one of several people providing presentations.
Diedre: DCR? I don’t see it on the website?
DE: No, it’s on DCR’s social media.
Diedre: I don’t see it on Facebook.
DE: It’s on Instagram. Yes, it’s there.
Diedre: I don’t see it.
DE: Yes, it’s there. There are several people in it, trying to remember who went first.
Hugh: A man and a woman?
DE: Yes, Barbie and someone else. On Instagram there was 4 on that day.
Diedre: Ok I’ll open IG and check it out.
